Stokes tore his left hamstring again in England's final Test against New Zealand in December and, following his operation, has been ruled out for at least three months.

England's next Test is not until May 22, when they face Zimbabwe in a four-day game at Trent Bridge.

Six teams, namely India, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Japan and China are participating in the Asian Champions Trophy 2024 and the hosts are the lowest-ranked (23) team in the tournament. India's next opponent, Japan are ranked 15 in the world.
