Comedic actors Jerald Napoles and Pepe Herrera are set to join forces for the upcoming comedy-drama “Sampung Utos Kay Josh.”

Herrera, who previously played God in the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Rewind,” is set to change gear as he takes on the role of Satan for “Sampung Utos Kay Josh.”

While Napoles will portray Josh, a man whose faith has been put to the test after facing a series of unfortunate events.

In the trailer recently released by Viva Films, Josh (Napoles) has everything a man could ever ask for: the dream job, the beautiful girlfriend, and a stable family, as he does good samaritan habits on the side.

But things go haywire for Josh when he gets summoned by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) asking him to “pay for his sins.” As he loses everything he has, Josh questions God’s credibility, which leads him to list down the 10 commandments as he intends to break them one by one.

During the film’s recent media conference, director Marius Talampas, known for his work in “Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap,” stressed that his upcoming film is a thought-provoking story that blends humor with concepts of faith.

“Hindi siya blasphemous, wala kami sinisiraang paniniwala dito. Kwento lang ito sa isang tao. ‘Yung laban sa sarili niya and paniniwala niya. May lessons dito, may matutunan dito. Madami life lessons,” he said.

Aside from Napoles and Herrera, “Sampung Utos Kay Josh” also features Albie Casiño, Bobot Mortiz, and Irma Adlawan, among others.

“Sampung Utos Kay Josh” premieres in Philippine cinemas on Jan. 29.
